Who are we looking for?

ONCAMPUS is looking to recruit a Tutor of English, on a part-time (0.5FTE), fixed-term contract to join the teaching team for a new English enhancement course. The course will be delivered online to Chinese students who are studying at the Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ZIME).

This is a fixed-term appointment:

  • start date week beginning 13th February 2023
  • completion date 31st July 2024 in the first instance

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and delivery of online teaching to groups of students in China, ensuring key quality standards are met.
  • Assessment of student progress
  • Liaison with relevant staff at ZIME and ONCAMPUS to discuss delivery and program operations
  • Ensure required standards are met for HR, Safeguarding, EDI, Data Protection, Health & Safety, UKVI, etc.

Essential criteria:

  • Educated to degree or equivalent qualification level, in the relevant subject area
  • Demonstrates competency in the English language to IELTS 8.0 or equivalent
  • Relevant in-person or face-to-face teaching or training experience in relevant subject area
  • Experience of online or blended course delivery
  • Strong IT skills, particularly the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and understanding
  • Commitment to ongoing reflection and continuous improvement of teaching practice
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure

This Franchised programmed offers a range of Essential skills: English and Math’s workshops at various levels from Entry 1 to level 2. Hours of Work: Various part time sessions as required. Sessions are typically of 2-3 hours duration and take place mornings afternoons, or evenings. Course duration is Adult Term Time only and will vary from 5 to 30 weeks and may include one day workshops and taster courses.
